External thermal insulation, or thermal facade, is the installation of successive layers of specialized materials on the external surfaces of a building with the goal of withstanding impacts, mechanical stresses, weather conditions, wind loads, time, or anything that could affect the building.
A thermal facade should be used on every building, whether it is old or new! For each one, there are different criteria:
For an old building: Its existing thermal insulation adequacy.
While for a new building: The energy study.
Also, the following play a primary role: The climatic zone to which it belongs, its usage, and the structural elements of which it is composed.
If someone installs external thermal insulation, they can only reap the benefits. Aside from the building looking more aesthetically pleasing, it saves energy on heating and cooling, protects against weather conditions, ensures a healthy indoor environment, takes advantage of the thermal mass of the structural elements, offers minimization or even elimination of thermal bridges, provides protection against moisture and mold, and is 100% ecological!
